History

Jacques Hamelle purchased the Paris publisher Jacques Maho (founded 1851) in 1877 and expanded the catalogue with the works of notable French composers of the era - including those of Debussy, Faure, Franck, D'Indy, Pierne, Saint-Saens, and Widor. After his death in 1917, the firm continued operation under his children. In 1921, Georges-Edgar Hamelle (1868 - 1956) became the new leader of the firm. In 1977 Leduc took over the distribution of the Hamelle catalogue and from 1993 on the firm was entirely run by Leduc.
