Symphonie No.1, Op.14 (Vierne, Louis)
Paris: Pérégally et Parvy fils, 1899.
Paris: A. Noël, n.d.(20th century). Plate A.N. 53751.
This file is part of the Sibley Mirroring Project. See also description --: Publication noted in the Bibliographie de la France 2e série, 88e année, Nº 14, 8 Avril 1899 p.241, r.1535. P&P fils were the publishers; their stock perhaps bought by Mackar/Noël at a later point. "A.N. 53751" is a very late plate number for Noël (see Félix Mackar), tending to imply rather >1905 -- even later still??... (it may have been the Pérégally plate, if there was one- I have not been able to find this out - ES).
|Work Title||Première symphonie pour grand orgue|
|Alternative Title||Organ Symphony No.1|
|Year/Date of Composition||1895–1898|
Vierne wrote in 1924, "The symphony was written in 1895 and published in 1898." The latter is not quite right but Rollin Smith notes that Vierne may well have meant that he had been working on the symphony since 1895 (and perhaps- my interpolation (E.S.) - had sent it off to Pérégally et Parvy fils, the publishers, in 1898.) (Smith, Louis Vierne: Organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral, p.519.)
