Navigation etc.

The typeset #377377 follows the edition Schott & Co. Ltd. London 1942, which bears the only editorial remark »Edited by MARYLIN WAILES from a manuscript in Christ Church Library, Oxford«. The instrumentation is 2 treble recorders and violoncello (i.e. basso continuo). The bass has no figures. Editorial additions (articulation, trills, phrasing) are omitted here. – According to RISM (see Mss Sources above) the same composition is to be found in a manuscript in the Royal Academy of Music, London, here declared an organ piece. The high register of the second part and the fact that in the London source the bass is figured prompt the conclusion that the recorder version is the original.
