According to hymnology.hymnsam.co.uk, this sequence "appears in an appendix to a series of sequences for the year. It was at one time attributed to Notker Balbulus*, but this is uncertain. It was written for a melody called ‘Puella turbata’ (‘the troubled girl’), which was probably a secular song."
