History

Andrés Vidal Llimona y Boceta started in 1860 in Barcelona, and functioned until 1925. The Vidal family imported opera scores from Ricordi and other publishers and distributed them to opera houses around Spain. They also published zarzuela and operetta scores as well as piano and string music. In 1895 they joined Antonio Boceta's company and the name was changed to Vidal Llimona y Boceta. Around 1900-1920 they published popular songs and dances, such as those by the Barcelona composer Pedro Astort Ribas (1873—1935) (Worsley).

The company's archive moved to Madrid in 1880. Since 1995 it has been stored at the Instituto Complutense de Ciencias Musicales at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid.
