My name is Thomas and I am a postgraduate student of Education at University College Cork having graduated with my BA degree in music and maths in Autumn 2009. I conduct the UCC Choral Society and am looking to pursue a masters degree in conducting next year (September 2010) in London.

My interests are in current music scholarship, in particular research into the relationship between music and the brain (notably the work of Daniel Levitin and Oliver Sacks). Outside of the music spectrum, I am interested in current national and international affairs and am learning French and German.

My favourite composers are (the list is not exhaustive!): Tchaikovsky, Arvo Pärt, Mendelssohn, Fauré, Bruckner, Shostakovich, Poulenc, Goldmark, Glière, Sibelius, Alfvén, Wagner, Brahms, Rachmaninoff ... particularly enjoy performers such as Mayra Andrade, Amy Winehouse, Lady GaGa, Helena Paparizou, the Carpenters and Nina Simone.
