Diederik Suys, violist

Born in Ghent in 1966, Diederik Suys studied with Ervin Schiffer and André Gertler at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels and at the Queen Elisabeth Chapell of Music before following a perfecting course at the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris" with Gérard Caussé.

After several distincions at national and international competitions as Dexia Classics, Tenuto, Maurice Vieux, Nicanor Zabaleta, Maurice Ravel and Lionel Tertis.

He started his career at the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. Diederik is actually principal violist at the National Paris Opera Orchestra. He is teaching at the School of Arts in Ghent (BE)

As a chamber music performer, Diederik played with international renown soloists as Bruno Pasquier, Christian Tetzlaff, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Toots Tielemans, Jean-Claude Vanden Eyden, Véronique Bogaerts, Lorenzo Gatto, Sébastien Walnier, the Via Nova String Quartet, the Oxalys Ensemble, the Solists of the National Paris Operahouse etc...

Those concerts brought him throughout Europe.

Diederik Suys is artistic adviser of the "Wichelen Festival" and the "UT3-Records" label. His recordings were welcomed in the international press. (Diapason, Le Monde de la Musique, Klara, ResMusica etc...)
