Talk:Veränderungen über einen Walzer, Op.120 (Beethoven, Ludwig van)

Could someone please check again the copyright status of some these pdfs?

IMSLP #02154 says it is from sheetmusicarchive.net , and that it is public domain.

The home page for sheetmusicarchive.net (accessed 6 June 2007) contains the statement

Download free editions* of public domain classical music by the following composers:

The * takes us to a footnote at the bottom which states

*Note: PDF files made by the SMA are copyrighted by SheetMusicArchive.net, and may not be sold, re-distributed, or used to derive other PDF files, without express written authorization.

This seems to imply that although the sheetmusic which sheetmusicarchive.net scanned in was itself public domain, the actual PDF files generated from this sheetmusic are copyright by sheemusicarchive.net.

IMSLP #02054: is from Sibley Music Library. Could someone likewise check the copyright status on that.

Thank you for your concerns. Currently it is impossible to copyright a digitization (or scan) of a public domain work. Since any original logos or text added to the image by sheetmusicarhive.net has been removed, there is no issue of copyright in the scan for file IMSLP #02154. The same applies to files from the Sibley Music Libary. Thank you, --Goldberg988 19:03, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

I'm thinking about moving this to "33 Variations on a Waltz by Diabelli, Op.120, etc." - for consistency. Opinions?-- Snailey Talk to Me Email me 01:47, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
