I strongly suspect that this work was written by Joseph Jr (1855-1907), not Joseph Sr (1828-93). The publication date is given as "1890s":
Old Joe will be dead by 1893, but Junior is in his musical prime, i.e. mid-thirties -- and the title, Butterflies, does not sound like the swan-song of an aged mind.
