History
Hudební Matice was a Czech music publishing company that was founded in 1871 in Prague as a sheet music publishing arm of Umelecka beseda (The Artistic Forum) in Prague, operating as a legal entity between 1871-1951. In 1962, its assets, and most importantly its catalog, were transferred to Statni hudebni nakladatelstvi, the predecessor of Editio Supraphon. With the last legal successor of Supraphon, Editio Praga which ceased to exist in 2000, the original catalog of Hudebni Matice is now in public domain.
