Was given its British premiere 26 March 1879 by Hausmann with the composer at the piano. British premiere seems to have been emphasized (this in the notes to a new edition of Stanford's cello concerto) so I'm guessing that the world premiere was (maybe marginally) earlier. - Schissel (ah. Those same notes also have "Hausmann introduced Stanford's first cello sonata (Op.9) in 1878".) -- (possibly in a concert - though possibly a private one - organized by Ferdinand Hiller in October 1878 soon before its late 1878 (according to 2002 Stanford biography - but that makes sense to me anyway) publication?)
