Oficina Litográfica do Arquivo Militar

History

The Litografia do Arquivo Militar was a Brazilian lithographic office created in 1819 by the French lithographer Arnaud Marie Julien Palière (1784-1862) in Arquivo Militar from Rio de Janeiro. Foreign lithographers worked there teaching and training young Brazilian lithographers. The office published drawings and maps, but it was probably the first place that published music scores in Brazil, with the publication of ‘’Hino Imperial e Constitucional de S. M. Imperial, Dom Pedro I’’ in 1824 (lost). THe first publication that it's know was also published on this office, Huma Saudade para Sempre.

Higino José Lopes de Almeida (ca.1814-1839) was one of the lithographers that is known for lithographing music.
