Romantic in style because it seems, from several sources, that this was composed in 1863 (and Early 20th century would apply to pieces composed in, or pieces by composers who flourished, after 1914 or so; Nietzsche was neither, having died in 1900. Publication date would be relevant in neither case). (And of the same sources - monographs on Nietzsche, etc.- mostly in German- at least one of them says or suggests it was given op.16 by the composer or its original publisher? Not clear, having some difficulty there.) - Schissel
