Part of a set of at least 4 pieces (op.44 no.1 is an Elegy, op44 no2 is listed in worldcat as for violin or cello and piano (some not perhaps until (c) 1907), op.44 no.3 is a Canzone for violin and piano, Op.44 no.4 a Berceuse (also violin or cello with piano).) Am guessing that this is an arrangement (by the composer) of a work originally for violin and piano.
