I believe the D-sharp minor version is as Bach wrote it, though. Is there a reason you prefer the E-flat minor version?
It does make me wonder why some editors (seemingly Czerny and Busoni the main ones) feel a need to make changes of this sort. I have also seen the C-sharp major Prelude and Fugue in this book re-edited into D-flat major, although not in these editions.
I am doubtful that the first set of scans is really JS Bach's manuscript. The handwriting is completely different from known Bach manuscripts, and from the autograph samples provided from the Bach-Gesellschaft edition. I believe it must be a hand-written copy made by a pupil or fellow musician of JSB. --Sphaerenklang 19:47, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
