Talk:Dalibor, JB 1:101 (Smetana, Bedřich)

Is there a problem with the copyright on this piece? Because there's no way it was first published in the 1960's. Perhaps Bärenreiter merely acquired the rights to whoever published this first, but I had to list them as that was the only publishing information given. This opera appears in a reprint edition that couldn't have been reprinted if Bärenreiter still held a copyright on the work. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why this should be listed as under copyright everywhere. The publishing style looks identical to my other uploaded Smetana pieces, which were listed as being published by Společnost Bedřicha Smetany, usually in the '40's. I would assume that would be the absolute latest these pieces were published. --Madcapellan 03:10, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I seriously doubt there would be any copyright issues here. The date of first publication is normally calculated on the basis of the first issue of the work in any form - including a vocal score. Since we have vocal score dating back to at least 1909, there is unlikely to be any type of copyright issue. I suspect that the Baerenreiter full score is actually a Supraphon issue from the 1940s or 1950s, but I'll have to do a little research. I just looked at it - no doubt it's a Supraphon engraving, definitely not that of Baerenreiter. I'll try and find out the editor and actual date of issue. Carolus 03:45, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
