Talk:Concertino for Oboe, Clarinet and Orchestra, Op.8 (Methfessel, Ernst)

I think the work was for oboe, bassoon and orchestra, arranged for oboe, bassoon and piano by Jancourt - the info section and title should reflect this? Not sure though... Eric 02:28, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

It was the Methfessel Concertino Op.8, for oboe and clarinet (or 2 clarinets) and orchestra, also printed around 1840 with a piano reduction. I have photocopies I was planning to upload as scans of this sometime in the future. The only thing Jancourt has done is to transpose the 2. clarinet part so that it can be played on the bassoon, and then it was published in Paris under his name and with his own Op.40, with the "d'apres Methfessel" as the only saving fig leave - otherwise its blatant plagiarism!--Kalliwoda 17:18, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
