Talk:6 String Quartets, G.189-194 (Boccherini, Luigi)

All six quartets are, in my opinion, among Boccherini's best works in the genre. No.6 is my personal favorite, but No.1 and 2 are equally rich and original (note, e.g., in No.1 the use of the same rhythmic motive in different variations all through the first movement, and in No.2 the harmonic development of the slow first movement and the exotic effects in the trio of the minuet, which, by the way, repeats a motive from the second movement). No.5 contains a very challenging cello part, with extensive use of thumb-position (which is required also in the first movement of No.4). Cgo
