This may be the "Symphony No.1 in D major" - the movement headings are the same - recorded on a cpo CD of "all JE Hartmann's four symphonies" recently. (Probably not, as it says "No.7", by the way... recording probably was only of his symphonies, not his periodical symphonies, a different breed. Or maybe it is; the sound sample of the Andantino at allmusic.com and the andantino here (opening of, violin 1 part) are identical... -
hrm... comparison of the first violin part of the first movement with the cpo recording using Naxos Music Library suggests that this is probably the first symphony there recorded, not just a work in part identical with it. (Indeed, according to the author of the cpo notes, the symphony no.1 in D of the cpo recording is the only one of the 4 recorded there to have been published, in 1770 by Hummel, as 7th of a series of periodical symphonies by various composers- the number is its place in the series and so periodical symphony no.6 might belong to e.g. Schwindl's contribution to the series, say- and Steensen gives the date of publication as 1770.) The other 3 symphonies recorded are in manuscript copies dated 1769-70. J. J. Hummel table suggests perhaps a later date for this symphony but at the moment is not well-enough filled in. - ES
