The autograph manuscript of K.185, originally bound along with the March K.189 (known as Cranz Volume No.1), was once in the possession of the Hamburg music publisher August Cranz. Separated from the March in 1966, it was acquired by an American dealer in 1975, who then dismembered it and sold various portions (comprising individual leaves and three complete movements), which are now to be found in various collections, mostly unknown.

The following sections are known:
Folio 1-13 (Movement 1): Seitoku University, Matsudo (Japan).
Folio 16 (bars 29-39 of Movement 2): sold by Sotheby's in 2006.
Folio 17 (bars 40-53 of Movement 2): sold by Drouot (Paris) in 2018.
