Sacred cantatas by Anton Bruckner

  • For his recording of 1987, Matthew Best used a copy of the dedication Reinschrift, which Bruckner made for Ignaz von Assmayr. This Reinschrift is still in a private collection in Vienna.
  • The edition Reuter is based on an Arbeitspartitur. On the first half of bar 109 (word "Tode"), the trombones accompaniment is missing. There are also a few other differences versus the more complete Reinschrift.
  • A copy of the Reinschrift has also been used by Paul Hawkshaw in 1997 for issuing the score of the Bruckner Gesamtausgabe. The other recording by Johannes Rühl (1999) used the score of the Gesamtausgabe.
