History

This firm operated from 1888 in London, but joined Stanley Lucas & Weber in 1895. The Boston publisher H.B. Stevens & Co. operated a London office at Pitt & Hatzfeld from around 1890. The first edition of España, Op.165 by Albéniz was issued by Pitt & Hatzfeld using the Stevens imprint with an editor credited (L. H. Meyer) which was probably a merely ruse to obtain US copyright protection.
