"Manuscript, vom ersten Male": Given (by Brodsky, Becker, Novacek, and Klengel) at the Funfte Kammermusik im Gewandhause, Leipzig, according to NZM, (Band 84, Nº 51), 19 Dec. 1888, p.558. (This appeared probably before the premiere, not after? Assuming of course that the work referred to in the 1888 NZM is not an earlier never-published piano quartet of Schlegel's. If the partial list of his manuscripts is still online, there might be some clarification there.)

Reviewed in Die Musik, 1910/11, Heft 21 (Jg 10, Bd 40, last book of Jg.10), p.189.

NMI does have the autograph of the quartet (request no. 114/015ab) but does not give a date in their music manuscripts list online.

Recorded in 1992 for a 1994 (ca.) NM Classics CD (coupled with Schafer's D-flat piano quintet.)
