  • The present cantata is taken from the Grosmann collection in the State Library in Aarhus, Denmark.

Heinrich Ernst Grosmann (1732-1811) was cantor in Aarhus and the collection contains - amongst other works - the 19 cantatas by Telemann that he performed from 1760 and onwards. O! hører, I ører i folk som langt borte (RISM DKAs R97) was performed on Nativity of Saint John the Baptist (24 June) in 1760. The day's readings were Isaiah 49, 1-6 and Luke 1, 57-79. The cantata is not included in Werner Menkes thematic Telemann register and this copy is the only known source of the cantata.

  • Grove Music does not list this cantata.
