Misc. Comments
Movement for Strings began as a work for string trio but was soon expanded through the addition of contrabass, in order to realize a deeper sound and enable performance by a string orchestra, in which case the contrabass lowest string has to be drop tuned ½ step (to eb) in order to accomplish a performance. A “lightness” to the composition is provided through the use of melody as the driving force.
