Misc. Comments
Reviewed in the October 1873 "Overland monthly and Out West magazine, Volume 11", page 391, though possibly may not have been assigned an opus number before its reprinting in 1878.
(Correction: LoC has the first, 1873, copy/edition/print etc., which - if they'd scanned it in at the time - I'd overlooked - and which even more clearly than the one I have from them, has Opus 67. I was going by the absence of this opus number in the few reviews I could find; my mistake. With dedicatee, too! Plan to upload the earlier edition later... I'd call both first edition as contents, once one gets past cover, seem to be identical?) - almost identical; the 1873 copyright date on the bottom of the first score page of the original has been replaced by a Roman numeral for 1878, which I'm rather guessing by now was standard White, Smith reprinting practice...
