Misc. Comments
Though the title is 'Concerto', this is not a concertante work for instrumental soloists (e.g. double bass). It is a cantata, with a short instrumental Adagio-Presto-Adagio section preceding the vocal section.
- Vocal works "concerto" were - not uncommon in Bruhns' day (and later; Bortnyanysky in the Classical period, the recently deceased A. G. Shnitke (admittedly archaically) (his "Choir Concerto") in ours.) - Schissel (Also: Psalm setting though not so titled, I think.)
Apparently first published by Litolff in 1936.
