instrumentation from Free Library of Philadelphia catalog online- library has manuscript of the full score. (they also have his concerto opus 3 for cello and orchestra (A minor, pub.1892).)

May have- not sure?- been published as Recitativ, Adagio und Allegro in Form eines Concertstückes für Violoncello mit Begleitung des Orchesters ca.1873-5, then (possibly later, closer in time to op.2 and 3 in the 1890s? possibly not?) with the new title "Concertstück" op.1 (though can't seem to trace this publication except as manuscript at Free Library after all.)

• AMZ 15 September 1875 contains an advertisement for opus 1, so this is an upper bound, more or less, on publication date (unless it's an anticipatory advertisement, etc.) (Schissel)
