  • Because the first performance of this was at the Ospedale della Pietà, all the roles and chorus parts were performed by female singers. Nevertheless the chorus is scored for SATB. The chorus at the Pietà included some low female voices, capable of singing the tenor voice in pitch.
  • Initially, the chalumeaux parts may have been played by either the recorder or oboe players.
  • Despite the Wikipedia article not mentioning clarinets, there are two in 'Plena nectare non mero', the Assyrian soldiers' chorus. The chalumeau part is a single part, and it is in 'Veni, me sequere fida'.
