According to BNF, was completed in the summer of 1868 (date at end of composition: 1868 été), but premiered in winter (March 9). I do not doubt that there is an explanation, can think of several in fact (so instead of having people suggest possible explanations if so inclined, would like to know _what_ happened, not what _might_ have happened, please...) - ES
