Misc. Comments
For the first Sunday after Easter (=Quasimodogeniti)
Commentary on the movements
- Chorus: Halt im Gedächtnis Jesum Christ. A densely woven, structurally symmetrical movement full of word-painting and imagery.
- Aria (Tenor): Mein Jesus ist erstanden. The theme of this movement is full of sharply articulated repeated notes, which provide momentum.
- Recitativo (Alto): Mein Jesu, heißest du des Todes Gift. Secco recitative.
- Choral: Erschienen ist der herrlich Tag. A plain chorale setting.
- Recitativo (Alto): Doch scheinet fast. Secco recitative.
- Aria[/Chorus] (Bass): Friede sei mit euch! A chorus with the same music for each of the three strophes; each is prefixed by the bass solemnly intoning "Peace be with you!"
- Choral: Du Friedefürst, Herr Jesu Christ. A plain choral setting.
