Commentary on the movements
Erster Teil
- Chorus: Gott fähret auf mit Jauchzen. A "splendid" movement with an immense fugue with three expositions. C major
- Recitativo (Tenor): Es will der Höchste sich ein Siegsgepräng. Secco recitative. a minor-G major
- Aria (Tenor): Ja tausendmal tausend begleiten den Wagen. Unison violins in form a "vigorous" obbligato. G major
- Recitativo (Soprano): Und der Herr, nachdem er mit ihnen geredet hatte. Secco recitative. E minor
- Aria (Soprano): Mein Jesus hat nunmehr. "Probably the most attractive piece among the arias of this cantata"1. E minor
Zweiter Teil:
- Recitativo (Bass): Es kommt der Helden Held. Recitative with strings. C major
- Aria (Bass): Er ists, der ganz allein. Obbligato trumpet (or violin if it is too arduous) has a virtuosic role to play here. C major
- Recitativo (Alto): Der Vater hat ihm ja. Secco recitative. A minor
- Aria (Alto): Ich sehe schon im Geist. A more bucolic pastoral movement. A minor
- Recitativo (Soprano): Er will mir neben sich. Secco recitative. G major-E minor
- Choral: Du Lebensfürst, Herr Jesu Christ. A plain chorale setting. G major
