Misc. Comments
For the Twelfth Sunday after Trinity
Commentary on the movements
[Prima parte]
- Concerto. This movement is a parody of a harpsichord concerto (fragmentary) which in turn is though to be derived from a lost oboe concerto. The organ here is the oboist.
- Aria: Geist und Seele wird verwirret. It is possible that this aria is an arrangement of the slow movement of the same concerto. However, the score looks less like a parody score and more like a new composition than the previous movement.
- Recitativo: Ich wundre mich. A lengthy secco recitative.
- Aria: Gott hat alles wohlgemacht! Obbligato organ plays virtuosic figurations, functioning as the only obbligato instrument.
Seconda parte
- Sinfonia. The organ again is a soloist. Perhaps this is derived from the third movement of the concerto.
- Recitativo: Ach, starker Gott, laß mich. Secco recitative.
- Aria: Ich wünsche nur bei Gott zu leben. "Significantly dance-like" in character1. Organ is again put to the fore.
