Plate Numbers
Gérard's plate numbers appear to have been issued in a fairly regular chronological fashion. Dates in parentheses are estimated.
- J.M. #### — Reprints of original J. Meissonnier engravings.
- C.M. #### (1860–1887) — C.M. probably stood for Compe Musicale or Compagnie Musicale that appears on certain J. Meissonnier title pages. E. Gérard et Cie continued to use the same plate prefix after acquiring the firm. Gérard's original engravings appear to start around plate ????.
