Extra Information The Sperger manuscript uses Viennese tuning, raised a semitone to E major: \relative c { \key c \major \clef bass \hide Stem  \omit Score.TimeSignature < bes es g bes > } Thus the solo double bass is written in D major and sounds a semitone higher than usual.
In the Tischer-Zeitz edition, the orchestra plays in E major, and the bass is notated in D major
