Published by Artaria ("M. Artaria" - "MA" of MA 895?) in ca,1829 or earlier, since mentioned in the Hofmeister/Whistling Handbuch vol.2 of 1829- Handbuch (so 1829ish or before). (Is M. Artaria = Artaria? Artaria plate 895 would be ca.1802, but Hauptmann was 10 at the time. OTOH Google Books mentions a book of letters from Hauptmann to a friend that may list this work- that would establish information even more clearly. Will see what I can find out. Even if they have no preview of it, I can try to interloan it and see if his correspondence provides any information - dates, &c - relevant to other works in this category... ) - ES
According to Letters of a Leipzig Cantor: Being the Letters of Moritz Hauptmann to Franz Hauser, Ludwig Spohr, and Other Musicians etc. (1892 ca), Op.8 was published (first? at some point?) by Schreiber of Vienna. Don't know if that helps... - ES
