URTEXT EDITION
This “urtext” or “scholarly” (scientific) edition was published at least 25 years ago in Germany and thus is public domain in its country of origin. Such editions are also public domain in Canada because they fail to meet the minimum ‘threshold of originality’ to qualify for copyright as an ‘adaptation’. It may not be public domain elsewhere, however. More information about this can be found here.

Misc. Comments

  • Contemporaneously referred to as either The Orchestra Concerto or The Second Overture in Amadigi. The former name was given, because it was performed "For the Benefit of the Instrumental Musick" at the King's Theatre benefit night.
  • In early copies of 1st edition of Op.3, a spurious concerto (printed as "Op.3 No.4a") was accidentally substituted. This spurious concerto (composer is anonymous) is now referred to as "Op.3 No.4b". Walsh included it instead in his 3rd collection of Select Harmony.
