LOC has at least one work by Shaw copyrighted by his publisher in the late 1850s - however in those days I don't know if a publisher (as opposed to a relative) could copyright works on one's behalf (there was a legal case that had partially to do with that, I think, but in Britain... hrm... hrm.) In point of pointy point of fact, O. J. Shaw died in 1861 before August. See Dwight's Journal of Music for August 3 1861, page 142. Eric 03:17, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
