- Sometimes referred to as Johanna Mockel (Matthieux) Kinkel (birthname Johanna Mockel, married Matthieux, left her first husband, married Gottfried Kinkel in 1843.) Student of Franz Anton Ries. When her husband was sentenced to life in prison in 1849, devised a successful escape plan in November 1850. Moved, to London in 1851 and then by herself to America in 1852 where she died in a fall (possible suicide?) in 1858. (See Ohio.edu link ; Wikipedia.)
