- While (some) pieces here are attributed to J.O. Casey, reports have J.O. Casey playing with the Salem Cadet Band (mentioned on a score of one of his compositions), then moving to the Colt's Armory Band (mentioned in a journal in 1888), which worked in Hartford, Connecticut, the same place where John Oscar Casey died in 1919 according to MusicSack. So there is some tenuous reason to believe these are the same person.
