Catalogue Thematique (Ries, Ferdinand)
Manuscript, n.d.(by 1831).
As complete as is left, anyway- the composer did not complete the catalog. Op.169 which concludes the catalog was composed in 1814, but some works published earlier were composed later (indeed, many of them; opus 168 as late as 1830.)
|Work Title||Catalogue Thematique|
|Year/Date of Composition||1831?|
|Language||German, French, English|
Personal Catalogue of the composer's own works in manuscript with incipits, descriptions and dates and locations of composition, in the collection of? Franz Ries and in the Berlin Library Catalog (StabiKat). Concludes with opus 169 (Sonate sentimentale for flute and piano) with empty or lost pages thereafter. Languages vary (composer was itinerant.) Whether drawn up at one time or over time is hard to tell, though seems to have been drawn up more or less at one time from other internal evidence??...
Cecil Hill, in his Thematic Catalogue of Ries' compositions, is dubious about the exact dates of composition Ries assigns to the works given here, noting that he drew up this catalogue around 1831.
