Misc. Comments
a theme also "transcribed" for piano by Brinley Richards (ca.1865). There is also a work about this theme by Rutland Boughton, and a chorus/piano arrangement by Gail Kubik, among others. A popular theme? (SSA.uk- or whoever wrote 1869? on the score- estimates 1869 but the plate number - though our Augener table is very very approximate for the 1860s - suggests more the early 1860s more a low plate number like that. and the SSA page does have 1862 for the - estimated? - first publication of the score though does not specify if that was by Augener or otherwise.) - Schissel
