Misc. Comments
There are three versions of the Brandenburg Concerto No.5 in D major that have come down to us. Bach Digital classifies earlier two versions as BWV 1050a and the final, dedicated version as BWV 1050. The first (or earliest) version is known by a set of parts written by Bach's son-in-law, J. C. Altnickol, and others (D B Mus. ms. Bach St 132, Faszikel 1.) The second version is known by a set of parts written by the composer himself (D B Mus. ms. Bach St 130.) The final, and the most widely-known version is known by the score written by the composer himself and dedicated to Christian Ludwig, margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt (D B Am. B. 78.)
