Commentary on the movements
- Choral: Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir. A chorale motet in the old style; the instruments double colla parte the entire time.
- Recitativo (Alto): In Jesu Gnade wird allein. Secco recitative.
- Aria (Tenor): Ich höre mitten in den Leiden. Two obbligato oboes with an interesting hemiola opening.
- Recitativo (Soprano): Ach! Dass mein Glaube noch so schwach. A recitative with the chorale melody in the continuo part.
- Terzetto (Soprano, Alto, Bass): Wenn meine Trübsal als mit Ketten. Trio with continuo avvompaniment. The two parts are in marked contrast to one another.
- Choral: Ob bei uns ist der Sünden viel. A plain chorale setting.
