Misc. Comments
A search of Grove Music only brings up the word "Assaggi" twice: once is in the works list for Johan Roman, and the other is in the article on the sonata. "The sonata for unaccompanied solo instrument is associated particularly with Austrian and German composers (Biber, Bach, Telemann), although Tartini may have intended some of his sonatas, published with a bass part, for violin alone (Brainard), and the Swedish composer Roman left about 20 multi-movement works of that type, most called assaggi."
