Misc. Comments

  • Grove Music's entry for Porpora's Artaserse is under the heading "Pasticcios" and is "Artaserse (F. Silvani), RD, carn. 1721, arias, F-Pc, arr. Porpora, based on Lotti’s Il tradimento traditor di se stesso".
  • Given that the date for this is 1721 and the date for Ariosti's London Artaserse is 1724, it does not seem that they contributed to the same pastiche, so it is unknown who composed the rest of this. So for the moment, this is on its own page, but may at some point be moved to an "Artaserse (Various)" depending on the extent of the contributions by the various composers.
