10 Morceaux pour le piano, Op.29 (Wollenhaupt, Hermann Adolf)
Braunschweig: Litolff, n.d. Collection Litolff 2087B.
St. Petersburg: Magasin Brandus, n.d. Plate 1884.
Louis Oesterle (1854-1932)
New York: Schirmer, 1901. Plate 20565.
given Schirmer's generally increasing-order plate system and that 20,000 plates were in use around 1909-1910, this has the feel of a transposed-number typographical error (that is, that the copyright was 1910 and someone accidentally switched the digits at the printer). I wonder if the LoC copyright books online give any clarification.
This plate no. 20565 is a uniform plate for a book of 15 different works published ca.1908 by Schirmer containing works released by them at different dates as early as 1884 (edited by Scharfenberg) and throughout that period, then reprinted (uniform plate 20565) but with the original copyrights when the new book was released in ca.1908- probably explaining the plate anomaly.
