According to MGG "the first 5 sonatas of Livre VI are identical with those of Livre V for the "pardessus de viole", but the mannner of composition is different and shows an excellent knowlegde about the cembalo: the ornaments are more rich, the slow movements, more important than in Livre V, has the free character of a präludium with frequent changes in the tempi".
